Only counted yesterday's efforts as Marty missed the first week.
30/08/14 ipunter out $400 in $257 POT -35.75% Mick out $400 in $266 POT -33.50% Marty out $400 in $434 POT 8.5 %
I have a problem here, Marty's selection #12 in Rosehill race 5 was late scratched, I took the official sub for my scratching which went unnoticed by me until too late, but I could not find any sub nominated for his late scratching.
What to do here? I'm no expert, maybe someone knows? If we take as no replacement nominated then we have to deduct $50 from the out side of the ledger, or not?
decisions, decisions? If I got the results wrong , shout and we fix it i am no accountant.

Hi ipunter, I've read the rules of the propun Saturday free competition (http://www.propun.com.au/tip_a_winner_rules.html) but I'm afraid I'm none the wiser for it. Of course the winner is decided by different means not by POT. The problem as I see it is if one had a late scratching with no replacement and we reduce the outlay accordingly, it adversely affects someone who had 4 nomination. There must be an official sub and using that is the way to go. I'm not sure how to find it though, my betting is very simple I don't know a fraction of the bewildering array of betting options available.
One thing I know, I shouldn't chop and change my methods, I like each way betting and on Saturday I bet for a win only and place only in two races, and as luck would have it the place only bet won paying over $12.

marty and ipunter the solution is simple, the final tab favorite is the sub. I'm happy with that, we ara not professionals fighting it out for money!

06/09/14 ipunter out $400 in $323 POT -19.25% Mick out $400 in $255 POT -36.25% Marty out $400 in $163 POT -59.25%
I think the each way betting cost myself and Mick a healthy profit, Marty I'm sorry to say would have come last each way or not. Food for thought?

20/09/14 ipunter out $400 in $63 POT -74.25% Mick out $400 in $211 POT -47.25% Marty out $400 in $312 POT -21.87% We all lost money yesterday but I'm bitterly disappointed with my result. I missed 3 very high paying place bets with my selections running fourth. I had spent a lot of time picking the right horses this time and still missed, bugga!! I allowed Mick the sub as one of his horses was scratched.

ipunter, if you don't mind I pull out of this competition, these are race meetings I normally would not touch with a bargepole. My method is not suitable for high faluting high quality races where half the field is good enough to win. I know some punters pride themselves in selecting only top class races to analyse be it dogs or horses, I'm not interested in prestige, $10 won at a whoop-whoop meeting buys you the same size burger as the tenner won at Flemington.
Good luck

I'm fine with it Marty, no need to force something you don't feel good about. If and when we start an other comp we should do it like the one Sportz on propun is running, put in any tips anywhere and the biggest POT wins, the more you bet the more you can lose so its fair. But we'll see what happens, wish JB would pull his finger out and start doing regular ratings again not just dribs and drabs. Good luck to you too

04/10/2014 I'm really peed of with the decision to declare Flemington Race 8 #10 SUAVITO a runner. But no use crying over it that's racing. Mick was in profit though well done. ipunter out $400 in $295 POT -26.25% Mick out $400 in $485 POT 21.25%

11/10/2014 a sad day for both of us despite good place div and huge win for Mick we are both in the red. I think the each way betting is not always the best strategy.
ipunter out $400 in $213 POT -46.75% Mick out $400 in $303 POT -24.25%
